I AM A HOME BASED INTERNET MARKETER.
I SEARCHED AROUND, I INVESTIGATED A HOME BASED BUSINESS OPPORTUNITY, and I did my due diligence. I have been responsible, kept my books, worked hard and paid my taxes. I sell quality products, tell the truth and happily refund people’s money if they are dissatisfied.
SOOOOOOO, WHY DOES THE FEDERAL TRADE COMMISSION (FTC) HATE ME??????
Why did they implement rules, or regulations or whatever the heck they call them, that prohibit many of my typical testimonials? Why are they messing with the way that I market my affiliate programs? WHY DO THEY HATE ME?????
MENTOR MAMA IS HERE TO EXPLAIN WHY THE FTC IS FOCUSING ON THE POOR, WELL-MEANING PEOPLE THAT HAVE A HOME-BASED BUSINESS OPPORTUNITY!
“Click on the video to hear Mentor Mama set out the shockingly simple reasons!”
The bottom line: IT IS NOT PERSONAL, but I AM paying for the sins of those that have come before me. What do you think? Is it fair??? Leave a comment below and share your thoughts!
If you got some benefit from this video, please tell your friends and followers on Facebook and Twitter! I appreciate your visit and hope that you will come back to visit often!

Mentor Mama,
Thanks for clearing up some misconceptions about regulations and policies. Unfortunately, life is moving so fast that no agency can possible keep up with all the changes that are happening. This is just something we all have to work with and stay in integrity with.
Thanks,

Val

Hi Mentor Mama,
It’s unfortunate that some people have messed things up for everybody, but that seems to be the way that these things go. It’s great that you are trying to clarify things and make it clear how people ought to be running things so that we can do things above board and maybe get things in order so things will perhaps be easier in the future.
I know that some sites – like Zazzle – are trying to have a lot of due diligence where copyright infringement is concerned, which is kinda great actually, but sorta weird. They got rid of some of my images that I had actually manually created till I proved how I got it and had to show where I got the licenses for others. They won’t allow Photobucket images since copyright lines can’t really be proven there even though Photobucket terms say their images can be used on sites like that.
So places like that and people like you may be helping us out for the future, so there is hope, don’t despair! – Rob

Hey Nancy (Mentor Mama!!)
I think this is an overdue conversation! Well I know YOU have been speaking up anyway! We need to bring this out in the open and start talking about it. Protection is a very necessary thing for all of us. Compliance is so important. If someone does not police the internet, the problems are going to get far worse. I could tell you some horror stories about people “posing” as distributors with fake everything, running credit cards through China.. and escaping with our poor people’s money. Oh dear!! Scamming is all too easy online as it is, and mlm has a scarred image to deal with to begin with. WE PROFESSIONALS have a responsibility to uphold the best practices we can to keep our industry clean and safe. The issues are many. At least we need to start the conversation.
You ROCK

Hi Nancy,
Thanks for sharing! It’s too bad that a few people have made it difficult for the rest of us.

Hi Nancy,
This is great info that’s not normally discussed during a lot of marketing trainings that are presently available. While many regulations are burdensome and restrictive, in the long run – this one in particular is welcome by me as a marketer and as a consumer because it preserves the integrity of our industry. Although a lot of unethical marketers still may fly under the radar, it seems there’s clear consequences & recourse for those who are harmed.
Great post, Nancy.

I don’t really believe it is just a few people that make it difficult for the rest. Greed is a terrible thing, as is fear. Yet so many people act from these emotions. Scandal in even some of the highest positions of governments, industries, business partnerships, you name it, have created the need for rules, regulations and laws. Bottom line is if you are going to be public do everything you can to educate yourself, hire the pro’s that spend the years learning to protect us and keep records of everything. Keep receipts for expenditures, and income. Most people have more legitimate expenses than they even realize and can write-off against their income if they keep records. Be diligent, honest and accountable and you have little to worry about.

Hi Mentor Mama,
I feel fortunate to be in your TSA group and learn about what FTC is doing and not doing for us. It is a shame that the world is full of fakes, when people like us are working hard to do the right thing for the right reasons.
I will definitely keep tabs on your blog, these are issues that are not in my scope of understanding…thanks for helping us.

Thanks for sharing about what I gather is a hot topic. I’m new to internet marketing, and don’t know what has come before, but if 60-year-old men were posing as “mommies” and writing false information, i certainly understand the need to use some controls.

Hey Nancy,
As usual, great information! We’re so fortunate to have a friend who has experience with network marketing and online marketing – who also happens to be a lawyer.
I was just having this same conversation the other day with a business partner, about the fact that there are so many dishonest people making outlandish claims and misrepresenting themselves and their businesses/products. They have badly hurt the reputation of this industry that can be so wonderfully life changing for so many people. Yes, there needs to be rules.
Thanks for sharing

This is definitely a post that every network marketer should read. When you read or hear some of the claims that people make about product or earning, it is easy to see why the FTC is involved. Our industry is a great industry that does not need to be tarnished by such business such business practices.
