SO YOU THINK YOU WANT TO DO ONLINE MARKETING……
Are you crazy? Forget it. It will never work. Marketing online is ineffective.
HUH? But, online marketing is all the rage. Mentor Mama is here to tell you, “FORGET IT!”
Do you have thousands of dollars to spend on pay-per-click? NO.
Do you know hundreds of thousands of people who will read your blog? NO.
Are you a celebrity? NO.
Then what makes you think you can make this happen? People have been out there blogging their little hearts out, putting out fabulous content and no one visits their blogs. So what makes you think that you are so special?
I’ll tell you WHAT. Mentor Mama is going to introduce you to the Holy Grail of online marketing: TRIBE SYNDICATION, that’s what.
Tribe Syndication is a process whereby a group of people join together and promote quality content on each others’ blogs. By working together, the group or “tribe” is able to share information, leverage their individual contacts, gain increased exposure for each individual member and ultimately market in a way that is far more effective than a solo model.
About one week ago, I had the privilege of attending the first live event hosted by the “Empowered Tribe”. The Empowered Tribe is a cohesive group of five men who came to know each other through marketing and classes on the internet: Michael Feil, Kary Rogney , Ken Pickard, Nick Logan, and Jon Alfredsson. Click on the link below to view a video of the tribe telling their story.
http://juliannabrower.com/the-empowered-tribe-social-proof/
If you are interested in forming a tribe, the “Empowered Tribe” suggests that your group develop a Tribal Code: a set of guidelines that facilitates the individuals to stay on task. While your code can be whatever you choose, the gentlemen in the “Empowered Tribe” have been successful because they have opted to adhere to a code that holds each of them accountable.
C’mon. Take Mama’s hand and I’ll walk you through a few of the suggested guidelines:
1. Meet weekly. Failure to show up consistently is one of the quickest ways to defeat your purpose.
2. Have a new piece of content each week. This can be a lot of work, but the rewards are tremendous as your fresh post is blasted out in front of thousands of new eyeballs!
3. Comment on each others’ posts. This means a real comment, giving your thoughts and even adding a new point of view. ”Great Post” doesn’t cut it.
4. Buzz each others’ content throughout the week. This keeps the online conversation going. You can use Twitter, Facebook or any other social media site that will extend the life of the post.
5. Members must maintain equivalent levels of activity. While people are always a little different, resentment will build if one member consistently does not pull his weight.
6. Share! This is a brain trust. Share new tips, exchange ideas, and help each other with technical issues.
7. Tribe members must have a common vision. You should not be clones. In fact it is helpful if each tribe member brings a different strength to the table. However, with a common purpose and vision, the tribe will flourish.
By virtue of its self-centered nature, online marketing has typically been annoying, ineffective or both. Collaboration is not a new idea. Applying it to the online marketing industry is.
Start talking tribes with some standout followers on Facebook and Twitter. Chat about the concepts set out above. Join an established tribe , form your own as you meet new people, or create a hybrid situation.
What ever you do, take a close look at tribes if you want your online marketing to be, well, EFFECTIVE!

Nancy,
The one thought I’d add to your powerful message, would be to attend as many of the tribe-sponsored seminars as possible. Meeting face to face last weekend was energizing, informative and fun. It cemented the connection we already shared. I’m looking forward to the next seminar:)

Great tips Mentor Mama – You have the tribal code down! I think one of the most important things that you pointed out is all members have to pull their weight. Thanks for the post.

Nancy,
I will start with Great Post! I like this because it clearly outlines what is important.Joining a group is a commitment with responsibilities. In every relationship you need to do more than just show up. You need to participate fully, take an interest in others, respect them and learn from them. As we all know the more you give, the more you receive.
Thanks Nancy!

Tribe syndication really is where its at right now. It’s funny how it caught on all of a sudden though because I was apart of a tribe for almost a year before it became popular. It’s been interesting to watch it explode into what it is today.
Great post as usual Nancy

Hey Nancy,
Great post. I totally agree with you in the value of a Tribe for online marketing. It is such a rewarding experience to have your content shared with so many others. It is also a great place to meet some like minded people who are working towards a shared vision and passion for the future.
With great leadership like yourself, tribes like the TSA will grow and offer many people the opportunity to be part of it.
Thanks for all that you do.
Make it a great day!
God Bless,

Right on, tribes are without question the buzz of the online world. As a new blogger as of December, I can tell you that there is no way I would have stuck with it without the tribe concept. It is so depressing to go to a blog with no life, no love!
I so wish I could have been there in San Diego to meet you all, but since I couldn’t, I appreciate all the wisdom spreading from those of you who made it out. Thanks for sharing the code ~ common passions and common commitment are absolutely essential to an effective tribe.
Power to the tribes!

Well you certainly got the essentials of Tribe life down, Nancy. You do get it!
You have to love the process of tribing. You learn so much and meet so many great and interesting people. And that’s just in addition to the syndication benefits.
Thanks for putting it all down so clearly and concisely Nancy.

You and I are part of a great tribe, TSA, so we know first hand how wonderful it is to have some friends online who are willing to support you, just as you are supporting them. It puts the online world in a different light. It makes it more human and less alone.
It also gets you more used to coming out of your shell and leaving comments when you read a post you like. Tribe or no tribe.

Hi,
I have a question. On point number 2 you said this new weekly post will be in front of thousands of new eyeballs. Where did they all come from? Is this assuming that the tribe is already pretty big? I’ve thought for awhile that the only people making money on online marketing were those that were marketing their online marketing skills and ideas. This is different? (I’m not being a smart ass.) One of your earlier responders (Angel) said she had been in a tribe for a year. She didn’t say how effective it was. I want to believe but as Reagan said (and I’m a liberal) trust but verify. Thanks

Hi Scott, Great questions. If all that you did was to tribe with me, for example, I have almost 4000 followers on Twitter. Right there, that’s thousands. If you tribed with me and 2 other people who each had 2000 Twitter followers, that a total of 8000 sets of eyeballs that would not have seen your content otherwise. Not every one of those people will see, but it’s a definite improvement over working alone and that’s a tribe of only 4 people.
I questioned whether people were making money online, as well. I had been working very hard with no results. BUT, I kept the faith and trudged on. Suddenly about a month ago (I only stumbled across internet marketing last Fall), things started to move! Right now, my business is soaring and it has all been a result of TRIBES! This is just the beginning. Now I really believe and I am moving forward with a spring in my step!
Please let me know if this answered your questions! Thanks for visiting.

So many perspectives points of view, the connections you make with people is a great benefit. The syndication is really a by product of relationships developed in the various tribes. Hi Mentor Mama, I love it that you said that the tribe members should not be clones. In trying to connect with people online in the past, I have run across those who are absolutely convinced that I need to agree with them on EVERY point, read all of the same books – and agree about what we think of them, essentially think all of the same thoughts. And I ask you, what fun is that? I mean, the in-jokes are fun that way, but beyond that… A common vision, a common purpose, goal, whatever, yes….but many paths up to the mountain top – I’m all for that. And if you think my path is too circuitous – well maybe I think yours is too rocky. But perhaps your way of looking at the world and marketing and doing business and your personality gets us innovation X and mine gets us insight Y, then together we have breakthrough Z and everybody is happy. That’s what I like! So go tribes for sure – but just say no to clones…:) – Rob

Great info you are giving out to everyone here. Appreciate your content and I do agree it is essential to form a tribe with a group of people who share common goals.
I love the idea taught at the Tribe Domination Coaching Program and will also implement it as soon as I have my group of like minded people with me.
Thanks very much for sharing this with us.
